The Lancer women's hockey team lost a pair of home-and-home games to the Waterloo Warriors this weekend in OUA action.
Â
The blue and gold fell 3-0 to the host Warriors on Friday night, and then dropped a 3-1 decision at home Saturday.

FRIDAY @ GUELPH
Early in the game, the Warriors had a great opportunity to get on the board early with a one-on-one breakaway. Lancer goaltender
Holly Borrett had other ideas, making a phenomenal stop to keep the game deadlocked at zero. Borrett continued to make great saves throughout the first period as the hosts pushed to get on the board. They finally succeeded with the man advantage midway through the frame with a goal from Madison Pritchard. Windsor went into the intermission down 1-0.
Â
After a scoreless second period that saw Maggie DeWolf-Russ and
Zoey Westervelt give the Warriors a scare, Waterloo scored two unanswered goals in an intense third period to earn the 3-0 win.
Â
Holly Borrett saved 19 out of the 22 shots that came her way, while the Lancers would have 36 shots on goal.
Â
SATURDAY IN WINDSOR
In the first period of the game, the Warriors and Lancers got off to a quick start looking to push the pace. Windsor forward Rylee Hogen found an opportunity to try to put the team on the board with a backhand shot but Waterloo's goaltender Mikayla Schnarr would not let the puck go through. With many turnovers, neither team was ready to give up any openings until just over a minute left to play when Madison Pritchard put the puck past Lancer goaltender
Jaydlin Spooner. The Warriors held the one goal lead heading into the intermission.
Â
Waterloo scored another power play goal midway through the second frame to take a two-goal lead. The Warriors then allowed their first goal of 2022 at 17:32 of the second period when
Amy Maitre scored her first goal of the season to cut the visitors lead in half.
Â
The third period was a physical one as both teams increased their intensity. Waterloo's Keiara Raitt found the back of the net at 15:29 to secure the win for the visiting Warriors.
