GAME FLOW
To start the game, both teams took their time to fall into the rhythm of the game with no scores opening up in the first few minutes. With possession falling into the Lancers,
Maggie Denys took the first opportunity to finally break open the score with a clean 3-pointer and put the Lancers up on the board. With good efforts to hold on, the blue and gold led the Marauders 13-8 after the ten minutes.
Â
In the second quarter, the intensity of the game started to increase as both teams put the pressure on and the amount of team fouls increased. Point guards,
Maggie Denys and
Harriet Carey continued with their scoring streak to help build upon the first quarter. The Marauders would not give up and found chances to slowly find their way just behind the Lancers. Windsor went into halftime 34-24, hoping to stand their ground.
Â
The third quarter had Windsor looking to retain their competitive edge over McMaster with confidence after maintaining their lead in the previous quarters. As the fans started to get more involved in the game,
Grace Koffi made a shot through the McMaster traffic and got everyone cheering on their feet. They went 52-45 into the last quarter.
Â
The Marauders started to slowly come up on the rise behind the Lancers with Mia Spadafora and Jenna Button making offensive plays to close the gap. Windsor was forced to go down on defense in the final minutes of the game to try to prevent any more plays into the Lancer zone but the hosts were able to finish off strong and the blue and gold took a 72-58 loss.
