Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey earns two wins in weekend sweep over Brock

The Lancer men's hockey team swept their first weekend of 2023 at home with a pair of wins over the Brock Badgers.

The blue and gold defeated the Badgers 4-1 on Friday night and followed that up with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

FRIDAY
Second year Sean Olson dominated in this game recording a hat trick while Brady Pataki also helped contribute a goal. Goaltender Nathan Torchia stopped 30 of 31 saves for a solid night in the net for the hosts.

Adam Berg scored the lone goal for the Badgers, while Roman Basran made 26 saves in net.
The Badgers jumped out to a quick lead just over two minutes into the contest when Berg scored from a crown in front of Torchia. After multiple scoring chances, Olson was able to move in for a slapshot and get the puck past Basran to equalize the game at one heading into the first intermission.

Olson scored his second goal of the night just 38 seconds into the frame off a pass from Anthony Stefano. Applying pressure, the Badgers applied pressure and Nathan Torchia was put to the test as Jacob Roach made his move to get his stick on the puck but Torchia rejected the attempt to maintain the Lancers lead. With seven minutes remaining, the intensity picked up and Brady Pataki was able to grab a goal off the rebound and then just one minute later Olson registered his hat trick to put Windsor up 4-1.

Both goaltenders kept the scoresheet clean in the third period, and the Lancers earned the win.

SATURDAY
Game two was a bit more of a tighter contest and no one lit up the lamp until late in the first period. Lancer captain Mason Kohn scored his seventh of the season to put the hosts on the board first at 15:41 of the opening period. Less than two minutes later, the Badgers would tie things up with a marker from Cole Thiessen at 17:01. The game would head into the break tied at one a piece.

The lone goal of the second came from Adam Berg with his second of the weekend to put the visitors up 2-1.

In the third, Brady Hinz scored his third of the year at 11:30 off a pass from Olson and Holden Wale. With time starting to wind down, the Lancers went on the power play and Brady Pataki seized the opportunity, notching his sixth of the season at 16:36 to put Windsor up 3-2 and secure the win.
