GAME FLOW
In the opening period Torchia was put to the test early as Brock forward Adam Berg went on a breakaway in attempt to strike first, however, Torchia was up to the task and turned the puck aside. It was Frank Pucci who would put the Badgers up first at 11: 25. Four minutes later with the Lancers killing a penalty,
Anthony Stefano stepped on the gas towards Brock goalie Mario Peccia and scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game. The deadlock wouldn't last long as the Badgers scored just a minute later to take a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission.
Â
The second period was controlled by the Badger and Johnathon Schaefer scored his first goal of the season to make it 3-1 in favour of the hosts. Shortly after, Lund-Cornish made his way into the net for Torchia for a quick change.
Brady Pataki was able to find his way past Peccia to help trim to deficit to 3-2. However, the Badgers' added two goals in the second half of the period to lead 5-2 after forty minutes.
Â
The Badgers would continue to add to their lead in the third early in the period with Berg's second goal of the game just over a minute into the frame. Less than a minute later,
Matt McNamara cut the Badgers lead to three. Lancer head coach
Kevin Hamlin pulled the goaltender in favour of an extra attacker, but the Badgers capitalized on the empty net to score their final goal.
