GAME FLOW
The opening period saw the Lancers and Gryphons get off to a slow start as both teams played fairly even. Even with multiple power play opportunities, neither squad could get into each other's zones to create a scoring opportunity. The game was scoreless after the first.
Â
In the second period Penman made his way to the net and his shot was able to get the better of Torchia to put Guelph up first on the scoreboard. The blue and gold remained patient and as they settled into a better rhythm Fetter got around Cregan to equalize the game 1-1. Only a minute later McNamara skated into the zone to grab another goal for the Lancers and quickly extend the squad's lead to 2-1. In the final minute of the period, Penman made his way through the crowd and tied things up heading into the intermission.
Â
In the third period, the Lancers got up on the scoreboard again after
Matt Dorsey showed off his great awareness and made a wrap around goal for his 5th goal of the season. Torchia made several strong saves to keep the Gryphons off the board and give the Lancers the victory.
