Women's Hockey picks up three points on weekend road trip

The Lancer women's hockey team picked up 3 points on the road this weekend as they split the weekend against the Toronto Varsity Blues (4-3) and Nipissing Lakers (1-4).

HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
On Friday night, the Lancer women's hockey team secured a win in the 6ix against the Toronto Varsity Blues. Makayla Mailhot kicked things off for Windsor by potting one at the end of the first period. In the second frame, Jessica Gribbon put up a pair of points to maintain the Lancer lead. Toronto bounced back to tie things up early in the third, but Leah Gervais showed up for the Lancers, marking the winner with less than three minutes to go.

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
On Saturday, the women travelled up to North Bay for an outing against the Nipissing Lakers. The Lakers opened the scoring with two in the opening frame. The second period was a similar scene with the Lakers adding two more to the board. In the final frame, Jessica Gribbon broke the Lancer's goose egg, securing her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Maggi DeWolf-Russ and Elizabeth Coleman.
