HOW IT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY
The Lancers were able to come out the gate in control and ensuring that they maintained consistent focus and composure against the Paladins throughout.Â
Â
The blue and gold successfully were able to generate a solid offensive performance during the opening set to carry them out of the set with a 25-18 first set win and 1-0 lead in the match.
Â
The second set saw a similar scenario yet more enhanced with the Lancers beginning to not only put on display their nationally ranked talent but also their depth with a whopping point spread margin intact that allowed them some comfort to cruise to an eventual 25-8 win and go up 2-0 in the match.
Â
The visitors achieved their feat of sweeping the hosts after the rattling second set became a little overwhelming for RMC to match up with Windsor.
Â
However, to the red and white's credit, they were able to sustain a healthy competitive third set throughout allowing them to stay within reach of the Lancers lead.
Â
But ultimately the blue and gold were too much for the Paladins to handle who closed out the third set and match on a 25-21 and 3-0 winning note to close out the first game of the weekend doubleheader.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY
On the second day of competition the determined Lancers continued to shine offensively over their weekend counterparts at RMC.Â
Â
The blue and gold were able to take advantage of quality sets from Law-Heese and put on a solid road showing to maintain rhythm and momentum throughout the first set and coast to a 25-13 win.Â
Â
The second set proved to be the best for the Paladins who outkilled the Lancers offensively and put up more points in a closer contested set.Â
Â
Windsor, with their experience, did not allow RMC the opportunity to overthrow the momentum they had and ensured the visitors would remain on top closing out the second on a winning note with a respectable 25-20 victory.
Â
The struggling Paladins who continue to be winless on the campaign could not extend the match beyond a third set as the Lancers again showcased their skilled depth with a variety of players and were able to earn another successful team win on the road with a close out third set score of 25-16 and a second consecutive 3-0 win on the road.
