The Lancer men's basketball team dropped a 76-65 loss to the visiting Laurier Golden Hawks in their home opener on Saturday evening at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

With the loss, the blue and gold move to 0-2 on the season after their first week of regular season competition.

Windsor was led by
Xavier Ochu with 16 points and six rebounds.
Ziphion Grant also hit double digits with 14 points, and
Quinn Carey had 10 points.

The Golden Hawks shot 42.4% from the field compared to Windsor's 30.8%, and outrebounded the hosts 42-30.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With only ten players dressed due to injuries and illness, the blue and gold were unable to keep up with the visiting Hawks in the first quarter. Laurier came out with something to prove, outscoring the Lancers 33-14 in the opening frame.

Windsor continued to struggle in the second quarter, shooting just 20% from the field to Laurier's 38.9%. The Hawks held a commanding 50-26 lead heading into halftime.

The Lancers came alive in the second half, showing up on the court looking like a different team from the first half. The blue and gold went on an 11-2 run in the second half of the third quarter to make it a game and brough the score within eleven points heading into the fourth quarter.

Windsor made it an eight-point game early in the fourth, 65-57, but that was as close as they would get.
