The Windsor Lancer men's hockey team dropped a pair of road decisions this weekend while visiting the Brock Badgers on Friday night in St. Catharines and on Saturday night while playing in Guelph against the Guelph Gryphons.

The Badgers defeated the Lancers 3-1 in the Friday outing while the Gryphons also handed the Lancers a loss this weekend with their 4-2 victory over the visiting blue and gold.

FRIDAY STATS
David Jesus scored the lone Lancer goal on Friday while Dylan Schives picked up the solo assist on the solo marker.

Nathan Torchia made 24 saves in the loss while guarding the Lancer goal.

SATURDAY STATS
Will Ennis and Jake Durham each scored for the Lancers in Saturday's road loss.

Torchia protected the Lancer crease again and made big saves once again for the blue and gold despite the doubled-up loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY
The Lancers came onto the ice with fire under their feet Friday night. In the first two minutes of play, Jesus opened the scoring with his first OUA goal by stepping in and wiring the puck over the goaltender's shoulder. However, the Badgers battled back and put away an equalizer at the period's halfway mark.

In the second period the Badgers mimicked the Lancers' first period behaviour by getting an early tally. Teams held each other off through the remainder of the midway minutes, shots tied 11-11.

Despite a valiant effort by the Lancers in the final frame, the Badgers ultimately pulled ahead with a third marker to secure the Badger 3-1 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY
A first period that went uneventful until the very last two minutes of the first frame saw 3 goals exchanged from both sides in a 33-second span.

The Guelph Gryphons opened the scoring with 1:51 left in the first period with Luke Kutkevicius' first of the game to put the home team up 1-0 on the Lancers.

22 seconds later, Ennis beat the Guelph netminder with his rifled shot on net to tie the game up at 1-1.

11 seconds after Ennis' equalizer, the Gryphons restored their one goal lead when Anthony Tabak scored with 1:23 left to play in the opening period to make it 2-1 Guelph.

10 seconds into the second period, Durham made his mark with his game-tying goal to make 2-2 with Guelph.

Later in the second frame a deflection off a Guelph stick in front of Torchia resulted in Guelph's third go-ahead goal this time by Nolan DeGurse to then lead 3-2 with 10:09 left in the second.

The Lancers would then look to circle the Guelph goal and attempt a few shot opportunities in an effort to once again tie up the game including with some 4-on-4 action play that ended up not converting into any further goals from the blue and gold.

In the third period, Kutkevicius deeked out the Lancer defence and beat Torchia again for his second goal of the game which served as a dagger to the Lancers spirits in this outing making the game 4-2 courtesy of the former Windsor Spitfire.

The score would strong until the end as the Lancers could not respond and dropped their second straight road outing on the weekend this time to the Gryphons.
