A strong fourth quarter lifted the Lancer women's basketball team to a 59-56 win over the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
With the win, the blue and gold close out the first half of their season with a 5-3 record heading into the holiday break.

Maggie Denys led the blue and gold with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Isabella Anes also hit double digits with 11 points, while
Reine Ndome had ten.
The Mustangs were led by MacKeely Shantz with a game high 18 points, while Morgan Tamminga led the game with nine rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A tight game from start to finish, the blue and gold trailed early but kept the game close. Trailing by just four heading into the second quarter, the Lancers relied on some hot shooting from
Maggie Denys to tie the game and take a one-point lead heading into the half, 32-31.
In the third quarter, Windsor built a bit of a cushion early, but then shot a mere 21.4% from the field as the Mustangs battled back to lead 49-45 heading into the fourth quarter.
Windsor rebounded in the fourth quarter, shooting 46.2% and holding the Mustangs to just seven points in the final ten minutes of play to earn the three-point win.

The Lancers will now break for the holidays and return to regular season action on Friday, January 5th when they host the Waterloo Warriors at 6:00pm at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
