Women's Basketball rocks it on the road

The Windsor Lancer women's basketball team rocked it on the road to secure back-to-back victories against the Laurentian Voyageurs (69-36) and the Nipissing Lakers (58-52).
 
FRIDAY STATS
Windsor dominated the floor, outshooting the Voyageurs 37.5% over 16.4% on the field and 31.3% over 16.7% at the 3-point arc.
 
It was a team offensive effort, 12 players both seeing the floor and the scoresheet. Isabella Anes hit double figures, putting up 10 points for the blue and gold. Kali Grootenboer also had a standout showing with 9 points, 5 blocks, and 10 rebounds.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
The Lancers played with great intensity on Friday, never trailing against the Voyageurs. The blue and gold came out of the gate strong, leading 19-5 after the opening quarter. The women had another strong showing in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 20-point lead.
While the third quarter saw both teams battle across the floor, the Lancers concluded with a dominant fourth quarter, outworking Laurentian 12-4 to end the night with a 33-point surplus.
 
SATURDAY STATS
The blue and gold went 73.7% from the charity line and 27.0% on the floor. Vanessa Budimunda was at the helm of the Lancer victory, earning 11 rebounds and putting away an impressive 15 points. Reine Ndome, Isabella Anes, and Leah Tate were top offensive contributors, earning 9, 8, and 8 points respectively. Julia Chiarot was also a key force on the floor, earning 5 steals and 6 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
The women returned to the floor Saturday with another fast-paced opening quarter, being 15-8 at the end of the first. Teams went point-for-point in the second, where each team put up 16 points.
 
The third quarter saw another close battle as the Lakers proved hungry to close the gap. While Nipissing came within striking distance in the fourth, Isabella Anes went to work in the paint and Leah Tate went 4-for-4 at the charity line to help secure the Lancer win, their second victory of the weekend.

The women return to Windsor next weekend for back-to-back home games against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Friday and Queen's Gaels Saturday, each at 6:00pm.
