The Windsor Lancer women's basketball team split the weekend against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks (70-58) and Queen's Gaels (54-46).

FRIDAY STATS
The blue and gold went 57% from the charity line and 37% from the floor.
Julia Chiarot led the Lancer charge with an impressive 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Kali Grootenboer also had a strong showing, totaling 13 points and 12 rebounds on the night.
Isabella Anes played matchmaker, setting up her teammates on the offence to tally up 7 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
The blue and gold had a strong start to the weekend at home on Friday. While the women faced an early deficit, Chiarot steered the team back into the contest with back-to-back sinkers to open the second quarter. From there, both sides were eager to grab hold of the reigns, battling point-for-point until halftime, where the Lancers led 33-30.

Dynamic duo, Anes and Grootenboer, made some moves in the third; Anes successfully fed the ball to Grootenboer at the bottom of the key. Then, the Lancers turned up the heat to seal the deal, earning 21-13 points in the final frame.Â

SATURDAY STATS
The blue and gold earned 26 points in the paint and went 55.6% at the free throw line.
Vanessa Budimunda was the leader for the Lancers Saturday night, earning 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Mya Iriah and
Isabella Anes were also top contributors to the offensive effort, earning 8 and 6 points respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
Windsor and Queen's had a mirrored first half to result in a 28-28 halftime score; the scoreboard showed 17-11 Queen's after the first, which Windsor flipped by outworking the Gaels 17-11 in the second.

After a closely contested first half, the women maintained high energy, but ultimately came up short. Queen's edged out the Lancers by 4 points in each quarter of the second half, leaving the final score at 54-46.

UP NEXT
The women hit the road to St. Catharine's next Friday to battle it out against the Brock Badgers at 6:00pm. Then, the women return to Windsor on Sunday to play Guelph on Lancer territory at 2:00pm.
