The Lancer women's volleyball team played two strong games against the Guelph Gryphons, but ended up dropping both games to the Gryphons. Windsor fell 3-1 (25-27, 21-25, 31-29, 21-25) on Friday, and a five-set marathon on Saturday 3-2 (24-26, 25-19, 25-16, 19-25, 19-21).

Aliah Admans was the Lancers leading scorer on Friday with 17.5 points that included 15 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
The Lancers came out strong, building an 8-point lead in the first set. The Gryphons, however, stormed back tying the game at 23-23. It took extra points, but the Lancers eventually fell to the hosts 27-25 in the first set.

The second set saw a much more closely contested match, with both teams trading short scoring runs, before a 5-1 run following a 20-20 gave the Gryphons a 2-0 advantage heading into the third frame.

With the game on the line, the Lancers were able to hold off the Gryphons in the late stages of the third, taking the third set 31-29. In the fourth, a 6-0 run gave the Gryphons a 13-8 lead would prove to be too much for the visiting Lancers as they fell 25-21.Â

SATURDAY STATS
Yaila Sealy led the Lancers with 19 points with 15 kills, two solo blocks and 13 digs.
Raiya Millin had 17 points while Admans had 15.5 points, each contributing 13 kills in the game. Jordyn Brearly also hit double digits with 13 points on 10 kills and two service aces. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
After the Gryphons took an early lead with a 26-24 opening set win, the Lancers would stun the hosts with strong scoring runs in the late stages of the second and third sets, taking a 2-1 lead. With the Gryphons looking to avoid the loss, they came out strong in the fourth, taking the set 25-19. The final frame of the game featured a tense back-and-forth that saw the lead change five times. With the Lancers up 19-18, Guelph put up a pair of points before the Lancers committed an error to give the hosts the 3-2 win.
