The Windsor Lancer women's soccer team saw the pitch twice this weekend against the Laurier Golden Hawks, winning on the road 2-0 and tying at home 1-1.

While the Lancers were on the road Wednesday, the team returned to Alumni Stadium on Saturday for Senior's Day to recognize their graduating athletes who were playing in their final regular season home game. Graduates of the women's soccer team this year include
Faith Akinkuade,
Emma Beaulieu,
Kat Campana,
Aislynn Essibrah, Brooke Macleod,
Kailyn Robertson,
Emily Silva Pinto,
Mikayla Talbot, and
Avery Ward. The seniors had outstanding careers at the University of Windsor and are wished the best of luck in the future.

HOW IT HAPPENED WEDNESDAY
The Lancers came out strong Wednesday evening.
Kailyn Robertson netted an early goal in the 3rd minute to put the blue and gold ahead.

The women held onto their one-goal lead for the next 83 minutes before
Olivia Corazza sealed the win with a goal in the 86th minute.

The 2-0 win secured
Izzy Barrette's third home shutout of the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
Laurier kicked off the afternoon determined to turn the tables following Wednesday's matchup. Although Barrette made an all-star save in the 13th minute to clear the ball from Lancer territory, the Golden Hawks returned and snuck one past the Lancer defense to go up 1-0 in the 14th minute.

Avery Comartin was the hero of the match, leveling the score in the 53rd minute by capitalizing on a scramble after a corner kick.

Barrette again showed up for the Lancers again in the 56th minute, making a flying punch save to keep the score even.

The Lancers finished fifth overall in the OUA west division standings and will now face the York Lions in the first round of the OUA playoffs on Saturday, October 19th at 1:00pm in Toronto.
