The Windsor Lancer football team lost their quarter-final home playoff game 22-19 to the Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

Despite holding a lead for most of the game, Queen's capitalized on an opportunity in the final seconds to take back the lead and close out the night.

James Parker had a great day punting the ball, with 8 punts for 328 yards and a 41.0 average.
Joey Zorn rushed a total of 157 yards for the blue and gold.
Brady Lidster earned 13 points on the night for the Lancers, going 4-for-4 in field goals.

GAME FLOW
The blue and gold conceded a rouge and a safety in the opening frame. However, a 5-yard run touchdown by Chris John put the Lancers in the lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Lancers went up 10-3 at 11:45 in the second with a 50-yard field goal by
Brady Lidster.
Teams then exchanged field goals at 7:06 and 4:32.

Queen's earned an 18-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, making the score 13-9 for the blue and gold.

In the third quarter, Lidster secured his hat trick of field goals with a 51-yard rocket to extend the Lancer lead at 11:58. Then, Queen's stroked back with a 21-yard field goal of their own to maintain a 4-point gap at 6:10.

Lidster had the Lancer fans roaring as he went four-for-four in field goals, making the score 19-12 by the end of the third quarter.

With 4:24 on the clock, Queen's added to their score as the Lancers conceded a safety. With the score 19-14 in favour of the Lancers, the final two minutes of the game saw a Gael-force wind enter the confines of Alumni Stadium. Queen's threw a hail Mary 39-yard touchdown pass and topped it off with a two point conversion with five seconds left in the game to shift the tide and end the Lancers playoff run and 2024 season.
