HOW IT HAPPENED

Â
First,
Johnny Ulicny tied things up less than one minute after Western put one up.
Logan Linklater then got in the action to take the lead with 8 minutes remaining. The blue and gold had the crowd on their feet as
David Jesus completed the period's Lancer trio, making the score 3-1.
Â
The Lancers kept up the momentum in the second period. Teams exchanged goals midway through the frame. First,
Keegan McMullen lead the charge down the ice and scored on a breakaway. Then, Western answered back with a rebound goal.
Â
With only seconds left on the clock,
Will Ennis jumped in to pot a power play goal and make the score 5-2.
Â
Tension built in the third period as the Lancers worked to keep the Mustangs at arm's length. With five minutes remaining, the Lancers found themselves in penalty trouble and fending off a penalty kill. Nonetheless, the men took care of business as
Ty Toews tied the bow on the night with an empty netter.
