The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team returned from Thunder Bay to play the Lakehead Thunderwolves in game two of round one on home ice Friday night.

The men dominated the ice, skating away from round one of playoffs with a 7-2 victory.

With the win, the Lancers sweep the Thunderwolves and advance to the OUA quarter-finals.

In total, seven skaters contributed to the goal-scoring effort.
Jake Durham and
Keegan McMullen each scored in the first period. In the second period,
Dominic Mufarreh and
Barrett Dachyshyn found the back of the net. In the final frame,
Brady Hinz,
Jaydon Fetter, and
Grant Spence added to the scoreboard.

Nathan Torchia made 35 saves on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lancers set the tone early, as Durham scored just over one minute into the first period. While the Thunderwolves answered back with one at the 7-minute mark, McMullen then buried the puck to make the score 2-1.

The Thunderwolves gained some momentum at the beginning of the second frame, potting their second goal. However, the Lancers then doubled down to turn the tide. First, Mufarreh was quick to break the tie, scoring less than one minute after the equalizer. Then, Dachyshyn joined the effort, adding another tally for the blue and gold.
In the third period the Lancers turned things up a notch to block out the Thunderwolves.

With 11:44 to go, Hinz earned the fifth goal of the night. Then, to cap things of Fetter and Spence potted two in a span of thirty seconds, making the final score 7-2.

The men now move on to the OUA quarter-finals against the top seeded Brock Badgers.

The Lancers will host the Badgers in game one of the best-of-three series on Thursday, February 22nd at 7:30pm at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.
