Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Double OT loss brings Windsor's season to an end

The Lancer men's hockey team fell to the Brock Badgers 4-3 in double overtime in game two of the best-of-three playoff series Saturday night.

With the loss the Badgers win the series 2-0, and the Lancers see their season come to an end.

STATS
Mason Kohn, Jake Durham, and Holden Wale each scored in the second period, while Nathan Torchia was outstanding in net making 65 saves on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Badgers potted the first goal of the game, leading 1-0 at the end of the first period, and led 2-0 in the second before the Lancers were able to retaliate.

Windsor bounced back with three consecutive goals in the frame. First, Kohn capitalized on a bouncing puck to get it over the arm of Connor Ungar and into the back of the net. Then, Durham marked a second for the blue and gold while on the 4-on-4 play to equal the score. With no delay, Wale got in on the action, ripping one off a 2-on-1 to put the Lancers ahead for the first time on the night. Torchia then stunned the Badgers late in the period with a miraculous backhanded glove save.

In the third period, the Lancers kicked things off with a successful penalty kill, supported by Torchia who continued to stand tall between the pipes. At 11:43, Brock tied the score, sending Windsor's do-or-die game into overtime.

In extra time, Johnny Uliciny had the fans on their feet with the 40th shot of the night in the slot, yet Unger made a huge save to keep the game tied. Seeing no score after the first twenty minutes, the teams headed into a second overtime, where Brock found the back of the net at the 12:10 mark of the period to advance to the OUA semi-finals.
