Hamlin announces recruit class for 2024-25 season

Lancer men's hockey head coach Kevin Hamlin is pleased to announce his recruits for the 2024-25 season. Among the athletes added to the Blue & Gold, a remarkable 5 athletes are local.

Max Donoso, a goaltender from Windsor, Ontario, relies on his technical skills and quickness to stop pucks. Max was the 2022/23 MVP of the Ottawa 67's and finished his overage season with the Windsor Spitfires. Max has been a starting goaltender on very good Ontario Hockey League teams. He has played in big games and will add to Windsor's long list of excellent goalies. Max will be studying Aeronautics Leadership.

Kirk Mullen is a centre from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He played with the Steinbach Piston of the MJHL and is an excellent player that has scored consistently throughout his Jr. A Career. He sees the ice well and is a very skilled "big man." He is a player that plays with pace and power and is utilized in all areas of the game. Kirk will be studying Business.

Another Saskatchewan native, Ty Hilbig is joining the Lancers from the Kindersley Klippers of the SJHL. Ty has a long, smooth, powerful stride and accounted for 131 points across his 169 games total for the Klippers. In his three years with the team, Hilbig led the team in scoring twice, even achieving the 30-goal milestone this season. With Ty's hulking 6'4 frame, he is a scoring machine and can play up and down the lineup. He is an outstanding addition and will be studying Business.

Also from the Kindersley Klippers of Saskatchewan is centre Logan Linklater. Logan was the Klippers' MVP this past season with 58 points in 51 games. Logan is able to make plays at full speed and was the Captain of his Jr. A team. He will add to the offensive punch of our team and will be relied on heavily to win important faceoffs at both ends of the ice. Logan's WHL experience will also be an asset. Logan will be studying Liberal Arts and Professional Studies.

Salvatore Collora of Woodinville, Washington joins the Blue & Gold from the Aberdeen Wings of the NAHL. Salvatore played 3 years in the Western Hockey League and finished his Jr. Career in the NAHL. His big presence is felt in all areas of the ice. Sal will be a welcomed addition to our team. He is difficult to handle while at full speed and is extremely versatile as a player. Sal will most certainly add to our physical game but can also be an offensive threat. We are elated to have him join our Lancer Family where he will be studying Sport Management.

Ray Hamlin, a centre from Windsor, previously played for the Merrit Centennials in the MCHL. Ray had a fabulous rookie campaign in the BCHL where he tallied 23 Goals along with 25 Assists, which led to him being awarded Rookie of the Year for his team. Ray comes to the U of W after 3 years in the BCHL. Ray brings a relentless work ethic and a highly competitive drive to our team. Ray has been a face-off specialist throughout his Jr. Career and will be called upon for much the same as a Lancer. Ray will be studying Business.

Also from Windsor is forward Cayden Faust, who most recently played with the Leamington Flyers of the OJHL. Cayden finished his incredible Jr. career as Captain of the Leamington Flyers. He led his team in every area including scoring 63 points. Cayden led a young Flyer team to a tremendous season and was recognized as his Team's Most Valuable Player. Cayden will be studying Criminology in the fall.

Alex Cunningham, also from Windsor and the Leamington Flyers, is a forward who is a gifted offensive threat. He scored 134 points in his 3 years of OJHL Jr. A. This is an incredible stat, and we are looking for Alex to continue his knack for scoring with our Lancer team. Alex will be studying Psychology.

To wrap up this year's recruiting class is our final local Kyle Metson from Belle River, Ontario. Kyle is a goalie that comes to the Lancers from the Burlington Cougars where he had a sparkling .911 Save percentage in 41 games. Kyle is a quick and technically sound goaltender that will add depth to our goaltending position. Kyle is studying Human Kinetics.

Welcome to the Lancers, gentlemen and we look forward to seeing you on the ice in Blue & Gold this fall!
