Windsor Dominates Toronto Under the Lights

The Windsor Lancer Football team was back in action on Saturday night at Alumni Field where they hosted the Toronto Varsity Blues on what was a rainy night in Windsor. 
 
Both teams did their best not to slip and slide out on the turf, but ultimately the Lancers comfortably took care of business on the wet field with a convincing 52-5 win in front of the Lancer Family faithful fans in attendance.
 
STATS
Brady Lidster went 4/4 on kicks on the night making all four through the uprights.  Lidster converted on a pair of 37-yard field goals and a duo of 30-yard field goals.
 
Liam Talbot scored on a 13-yard run touchdown play in the first quarter. 

Christopher John scored on a 5-yard run in the third while Brett Bjorgan received a 13-yard pass from Corson Roy to score on a touchdown late in the third frame.
 
The Lancers scored on four team safeties on the night as well that the Varsity Blues surrendered in their own zone. 
 
GAME FLOW
In the first quarter Toronto opened the scoring when Sam Henke scored on a 31-yard field goal at 10:05 in the first quarter to make it 3-0 Varsity Blues. 
 
Talbot would respond with his 13-yard run at 6:02 in the first quarter which was followed up by Lidster's first kick on the night to make it a 7-3 Windsor lead up on the visitors.  The first team safety would kick in at 4:48 growing the Lancer lead by three before a few minutes later Lidster's first 37-yard field goal made the game 12-3 Windsor to end the first quarter ahead.
 
In the second quarter, the blue and gold managed to come out of the first half ahead 16-5 on the visiting Varsity Blues.  This was comprised of a team safety at 12:25 in the second quarter by Toronto before being matched by the Lancers twice to make it 14-5 Windsor at the 3:32 mark and then 16-5 at the 1:27 mark that kept the score there heading into half time. 
 
The second half kicked off with a team safety at 13:33 in the third to make it an 18-5 game.  At 10:56 of the third, John scored his 5-yard run and Lidster made another kick through the iron uprights to make it a quintupled Lancer margin at 25-5. 
 
The Lancers light show then was triggered again at Alumni Field when Bjorgan caught a 13-yard pass from Roy which was immediately followed up by Lidster who executed another flawless kick to make the game 32-5.  Another team safety occurred once more to make the game 34-5 Lancers at 8:37 in the third which then was grown to 37-5 on another Lidster kick at 6:44 of the third to make it even more out of reach for the Blues going into the fourth quarter.
 
The Lancers benefited off another team safety at 14:49 of the fourth to make the score 39-5 blue and gold.  Lidster's second 30-yard field goal made it 42-5 at the 8:56 mark of the final quarter of regulation.  Again, Lidster would strike off his boot later in the quarter to make the score 45-5 on Toronto with under two minutes to go in the fourth.
 
Colby Ginn sealed the deal on a 20-yard pass from Nick Dimovski which was exclamation marked by Lidster's final kick of the night to make the final score 52-5 in favour of the hometown Lancers earning a statement win on a Friday night in Windsor.  With the victory, the Lancers remain unbeaten on the campaign to date this season so far currently with a 5-0 record. 
 
UP NEXT
The blue and gold will be back in action next weekend when they head up the 401 to take on the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday October 5th at 1PM in the Royal City.  Fans can tune into watch Lancer Football road games all season long on OUA.Tv.
