The Windsor Lancers women's hockey team hosted a pair of home games at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex on Friday welcoming the Ottawa Gee-Gees and again on Saturday playing host to the Laurier Golden Hawks.

The blue and gold dropped a pair of 2-1 losses that were identical results in both contests.

WEEKEND STATS

On Friday Phoebe Gao scored the lone goal for the Lancers in the loss to Ottawa while Mikayla Axford picked up an assist on Gao's goal.

On Saturday Makayla Mailhot scored the Lancers lone goal in the loss to Laurier while Elissa Benjamin and Emily Eikelboom each recorded an assist in the shortfall effort.

Rebecca Noble made 24 saves in Friday's loss while Candence Petitclerc made 14 saves in Saturday's loss as both Lancer goaltenders shared time in the crease this past weekend.

FRIDAY GAME FLOW

All the game's scoring happened in the opening twenty minutes of play as all the goals came in the first period.

At the 7:05 mark, Ottawa's Kate Maloney struck first scoring to make it 1-0 from Angelique Proulx's assist.

Gao's equalizer goal came not long after to stalemate the contest at 1-1 to bring the Lancers back into the contest.

Maelle Laplante's go-ahead goal for the Gee-Gees at 11:41 of the first period would be the eventual game winner as that gave Ottawa a 2-1 lead advantage which held firm until the end as the Gee-Gees goalie Mirielle Kingsley would go on to make 30 saves backstopping her team to a hard-fought road victory in Windsor.

SATURDAY GAME FLOW

Laurier opened the scoring at 5:24 into the first frame with Ella Jackson's goal for the Golden Hawks giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Mailhot's marker came at 10:45 of the first period to tie the game up at 1-1 and give the Lancers the response they were looking for to try and regain some momentum in the game.

With a scoreless second period, the third period brought the Golden Hawks back out in front as Brianna Bowman notched the eventual game-winning goal at 10:38 to give the purple and gold a 2-1 lead on the hometown blue and gold.

Laurier's netminder Kayla Renaud stood tall earning the win making 20 saves against the Lancers to serve Windsor their second straight home loss on the weekend.

The Lancers record on the season now sits at 11-10 on the campaign with the recent losses.
