Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Lancers Trample Past Paladins

The Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team took care of business at home this weekend at the Toldo Lancer Centre with a pair of sweeping victories over the RMC Paladins.

On Friday night the blue and gold triumphed over the visiting Paladins from Kingston with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, and 25-14) then followed up less than 24 hours later again on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, and 25-11).

WEEKEND STATS

Aliah Admans had 21 kills on Friday night and added another 15 kills on Saturday.

Hope Simpson had 8 kills on Saturday and added 4 blocks to an impressive birthday game day performance in the winning outing.

Danika Scharff dished out 29 assists on Friday and racked up another 23 assists on Saturday to help set her team up for success over RMC at home this past weekend.

FRIDAY GAME FLOW

The first set started with evenly traded points between the Lancers and Paladins.

Eventually, the blue and gold would break open a gap that would widen and find a way to earn a comfortable double-digit lead that erupted and allowed them to coast to a 25-11 first set win and go up 1-0 in the match.

The second set began similarly before Windsor would again accumulate points at a fast rate that did not allow RMC to catch up despite a last-ditch effort toward the end of the set which wrapped up with a 25-14 Lancers second set win to go up 2-0 in the match.

On the verge of a sweep, the Lancers did trail 2-0 to start the third set before picking up steam again and chugging their well-oiled offensive machine with consistent plays once more which broke open another convincing ten-point cushion that eventually rounded out with an eleven-point edge and identical 25-14 result which allowed the hosts to earn a 3-0 win in Windsor on Friday night.

SATURDAY GAME FLOW

Both teams started the first set equally with exchanged points early on before the Lancers would hit their stride and widen the gap to a ten-point margin by the midway point of the set. Windsor would round out the set with steady play 25-14 to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lancers pounced on the Paladins out of the gate of the second set and did not allow the red and white and opportunity to get back into the set at any point overwhelming them with their offensive consistency cruising to a 25-11 result and 2-0 advantage in the match.

The third set started with both teams matching each other's intensity before the Lancers mighty offensive efforts again proved to be too much for the Paladins as the blue and gold swept past RMC for a second straight outing with a 25-11 third set result and a second consecutive 3-0 win in Windsor to improve to 10-6 on the season to date.
