Lancers double down in season-opening road trip

The University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball team continued their OUA regular season on Saturday, October 25, with an 85–72 road win over the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury, Ont. The victory came just a day after their overtime thriller against Nipissing, as the Lancers capped off their northern road trip with a perfect 2–0 start to the season.

GAME STATS
Luke Grace led the way for the Lancers with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three assists on an efficient 60% shooting from the field. Yohann Sam added 14 points and six rebounds, shooting 50% from the floor, while Bronson Chambers chipped in a well-rounded performance with 12 points, four assists, and two rebounds. Windsor also impressed at the free-throw line, converting 85.7% of their attempts to help seal the victory.

GAME FLOW
Facing a Voyageurs squad eager to bounce back from a 20-point loss to Western the night before, the Lancers started strong, with Luke Grace connecting with Emanuel Otong early to give Windsor its first lead of the game. Both teams traded baskets throughout the opening quarter, but Windsor closed the frame on a run to take a 22–16 lead.

In the second quarter, the Lancers began to pull away. Yohann Sam hit a step-back three, and Grace continued to dominate inside, converting multiple chances at the rim and from the free-throw line. Windsor outscored Laurentian 29–20 in the quarter to take a commanding 51–36 lead into halftime.

The Voyageurs found more rhythm in the third, with Ismael Konate and Angel Castellanos both reaching double figures, but the Lancers maintained control, extending their advantage to as much as 18 points. Windsor entered the fourth quarter up 72–57.

In the final frame, the Lancers' defense held firm, preventing any late surge from Laurentian. This time, there was no need for overtime drama — Windsor closed out the game comfortably for an 85–72 victory. The win moves the Lancers to 2–0 in OUA conference play, marking a strong start to their season.
