The University of Windsor Lancers women's basketball team took home an 81-52 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Saturday (Nov. 1) at Toldo Lancer Centre.
The Lancers were led by
Kali Grootenboer, who scored 12 of her 21 points in the first half, which the Lancers outscored the Ridgebacks 51-21 en route to their third win of the season. Grootenboer added nine rebounds and block to a strong weekend of work.
Julia Chiarot netted 14 points on the evening, followed by 13 from
Leah Tate.
Kaylee Williams and
Makenzie Fineman each recorded three assists off the bench. The Lancers were strong on the ball all night long, as evidenced by six steals from Chiarot and Windsor outrebounding the Ridgebacks 41-27. The Lancers 44.4% shooting from the field was a big piece of their win, with all but two players scoring points.
After a dominating first half, the game evened out somewhat as Ontario Tech had a 31-30 edge in the final twenty minutes, but Windsor still held onto their large lead and sealed an 81-52 victory.
Rosheen Antonroy led Ontario Tech with 11 points. Ayat Weber had five rebounds and Elliot Cowan three assists.
