Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lancers come up short in narrow loss at Brock

The University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball team came up just short in a tight battle against the Brock Badgers, falling 77–75 on Friday (Nov. 14) night in St. Catharines, Ont.

Windsor opened the game with a strong pace and energy, taking a 20–14 lead after the first quarter. Brock responded with a major swing in the second frame, outscoring the Lancers 27–17 to carry a 41–37 lead into halftime. Both teams matched each other with 18 points apiece in the third quarter, setting up a competitive fourth in which Windsor pushed late, even tying the game with little time remaining, but Brock held firm down the stretch to secure the narrow victory in front of a home crowd.

The game remained close statistically, with Windsor shooting 32.8% from the field and 30.6% from deep, while Brock finished at 42.4% overall and 39.1% from three. Windsor capitalized at the free-throw line, going 76.9%, and forced 18 Brock turnovers, but the Badgers' 44–34 advantage on the glass and their timely perimeter shooting proved decisive.

Emanuel Otong led the offense for the Lancers with 17 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting, including three triples, while adding six rebounds. Bronson Chambers added 16 points and three made threes, and first-year guard Tife Obasato provided a spark off the bench with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from deep. Dallas Champagnie-Smith contributed nine points and four assists, and Luke Grace anchored the interior with eight rebounds and two steals.

For the Badgers, Andrew McKenna paced the scoring with 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double, while Michael Matas added 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Isaiah Bujdoso chipped in 10 points and 7 boards, and Birch Pockar delivered 10 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.

The Lancers will end their weekend road trip tomorrow in Hamilton, Ont. to face the McMaster Marauders. Tip-off on Saturday (Nov. 15) is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game can be streamed online via oua.tv.
