The University of Windsor Lancers women's basketball team fell to the Brock Badgers by a score of 77–64 on Friday (Nov. 14) night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium in St. Catharines, Ont.
Brock opened the game strong, taking a 27–22 lead after the first quarter and maintaining a 44–38 advantage at halftime. The Badgers created separation in the third quarter, outscoring Windsor 22–11 to build a double-digit gap that the Lancers were unable to erase. Windsor responded with an energetic fourth quarter, holding Brock to just 11 points, but the early second-half surge by the Badgers proved to be the difference.
The Lancers battled on the glass, finishing with 36 rebounds, highlighted by 12 offensive boards. Brock's efficiency at the free-throw line (92.9%) and their 10 three-pointers converted were key factors in the matchup.
Kali Grootenboer led the way for Windsor with a double-double, posting 18 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 8-for-16 from the field. Leah Tate added eight points, and Makenzie Fineman, Maliyah Ogorek, and Jade Hunte each contributed seven points off the bench. Ogorek also tallied a team-high four steals, and Hunte pulled down six rebounds in an impactful performance.
For Brock, Madalyn Weinert powered the Badgers with a dominant 20-point, 15-rebound double-double. Jamie Addy was electric from long range, scoring 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three. Ava Stranges added 14 points, and Brock's balanced ball movement was led by Audrey Ntetani's six assists.
With the loss, the Lancers move to 5-2 in OUA play, while the Badgers improve to 3-3
