The University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball team continued their dominant play at the Toldo Lancer Centre on Saturday (Nov. 8) night, defeating the Algoma Thunderbirds in convincing fashion on Saturday night to complete a successful back-to-back home stand. Riding the momentum from their thrilling Friday night fourth-quarter comeback over Guelph, the Lancers showcased their offensive firepower and defensive intensity from the opening tip.
Windsor jumped out to an early lead, outshooting Algoma 47.1% to 21.4% from the field in the first quarter and taking a 21–11 advantage into the second. The Lancers extended their lead with a 21–9 run in the second quarter, establishing a comfortable double-digit lead that Algoma could not overcome. Windsor maintained their control through the remainder of the game, closing out the weekend with another strong performance before heading on the road next week.
The Lancers balanced attack was on full display. Yohann Sam led the starters with 18 points and four rebounds, while Matt Aebersold added nine points on perfect 3-of-3 three-point shooting. Luke Grace contributed six points, seven rebounds, and 5fiveassists, and Emanuel Otong added six points and six rebounds. Windsor's bench also made an impact, with Tife Obasato scoring nine points, Andrew Cook adding eigh, Quinn Carey five, and Bronson Chambers seven to round out a deep, productive roster. The Lancers shot 43.6% from the field overall, connecting 9-of-26 three-pointers, and collected 41 rebounds.
Algoma struggled offensively, shooting just 23.6% from the field and 20% from beyond the arc. Kal-El Alejo led the Thunderbirds with 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting, while Logan Whitmell added 10 points and six rebounds. The Thunderbirds managed only 28 total rebounds and three assists as Windsor's defense controlled the pace throughout.

With the victory, Windsor now turns their focus to a two-game road trip next weekend against the Brock Badgers and McMaster Marauders, aiming to extend their winning streak and carry their momentum into southern Ontario. Friday night's matchup in St. Catharines, Ont. will be at 8 p.m. against Brock, and can be streamed online via oua.tv.
