Back-to-back wins for Lancers in Kingston

The University of Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team had a strong showing on Friday (Nov. 7) and Saturday (Nov. 8) nights, defeating the RMC Paladins in straight sets in Kingston, Ont.

FRIDAY
Set scores on Friday were 22-25, 25-22, 25-15, and 25-20. After splitting the first two sets, the Lancers took control with a .407 hitting percentage in the third and .323 in the fourth.

Gustavo Siqueira continued his red-hot start to the season with 18 kills while hitting at a .351 rate, maintaining his large lead on the top OUA kills per set mark, while picking up up 18 points. Markus Law-Heese drew 40 assists as he orchestrated the Lancer attack. Chase Bridges' 14 points came on 10 kills and nine digs. Kaden Reid added nine kills on a .276 clip. The duo of Bridges and Darian Koskie combined for seven solo blocks to shut down the Paladins offense.

Tommy Roussel had 14 kills and eight kills for 15 points on the night for RMC as he continues a pace that sees him at second in the OUA in kills.

SATURDAY
Windsor came out strong offensively in the second game of the back-to-back, hitting an impressive .337 as a team while holding RMC to just .190 on the night. Set scores were 25–15, 25–18, 25–12.

Leading the attack was Darian Koskie, who tallied 10 kills on just 14 attempts for a stellar .643 hitting percentage, adding one ace and two blocks for 13 total points. Kaden Reid and Gustavo Siqueira also contributed heavily, each finishing with 13 and 14 points respectively. Reid recorded eight kills and three service aces, while Siqueira posted nine kills, four aces, and one solo block.

Setter Markus Law-Heese orchestrated the offence with 29 assists and chipped in defensively with nine digs and a solo block. Noah Koskie anchored the back row, leading all players with 13 digs in the win.

For RMC, Carter Liu paced the Paladins with five kills and two aces for eight points, while Cameron Moar and Tommy Roussel each added five points apiece.

UP NEXT
With the pair of victories, the Lancers improved their record to 4-0 in OUA regular season play and continue to build momentum as they look ahead to their next matchup, which will be at home against the TMU Bold on Friday, November 14 at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at golancers.ca/tickets, with the game available to be streamed online at oua.tv.
