In a high-scoring affair, the Lancer women's hockey team fell 5-3 to the visiting York Lions in the OUA play-in game on Thursday night at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

The loss eliminates the blue and gold from the post season, closing out the 2024-25 campaign.

York opened the scoring at 6:04 when Isabela Huculak, assisted by Jillian Milligan and Ginger Fast, found the back of the net. Their lead was extended at 14:26 when Natalie Mamone scored with an assist from Julianna Duma, giving York a 2-0 advantage heading into the second period.

The Lions again added to their lead early in the second. At 4:07, Mikayla Totten capitalized on the power play, with Trynity Turner providing the assist. Just over a minute later, at 5:58, Alexa Giantsopoulos made it 4-0 for York, also on the power play, with help from Jillian Milligan.

Windsor responded midway through the period. At 9:10,
Maggie Peterson scored for the Lancers, assisted by
Elizabeth Coleman and
Maggi DeWolf-Russ. Peterson struck again at 18:42, this time unassisted, cutting York's lead to 4-2 as the period ended.

Windsor continued their comeback effort in the third, with
Maggi DeWolf-Russ scoring at 9:46, assisted by
Devynn Dion and
Maggie Peterson, to bring the Lancers within one goal at 4-3. However, York sealed the win with an empty-net goal from Ava Ricker-Singh at 18:59, unassisted, giving the Lions a 5-3 victory.
