The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team delivered a complete performance on Saturday (Jan. 17) night at home, shutting out the Western Mustangs 4–0 to earn a convincing win. Windsor set the tone early and never looked back, combining disciplined defense, timely scoring, and stellar goaltending from Max Donoso to control the game across all three periods.

Windsor controlled play throughout the night, outshooting Western 40–26. Goaltender Max Donoso was perfect between the pipes, stopping all 26 shots he faced to earn the shutout. On the other end, Western netminder Jack McNaughton made 36 saves in the loss. Ty Toews led the Lancers offensively with two goals and an assist, including a shorthanded marker, while Dominic Mufarreh and Keegan McMullen added goals. Logan Linklater chipped in with two assists.
GAME FLOW
The Lancers opened the scoring late in the first period while shorthanded, as Toews capitalized at 19:43, finishing on a breakaway off of a play set up by Ray Hamlin and Logan Linklater to give Windsor the lead heading into the intermission. The second period remained scoreless, though Windsor continued to apply pressure and limit Western's chances.
The game became more intense as time wore on, with both sides of the rivalry eager to find the next marker. Scrums frequently broke out as the southwestern Ontairo combatants grew frustrated with one another. The Lancers ended up recording 22 penalty minutes while the Mustangs let loose with 36.
Windsor broke the game open in the third period. Dominic Mufarreh doubled the lead at 4:47, converting a feed from Jacob Boucher and Cayden Faust. Just over five minutes later, Toews struck again, this time at even strength, extending the lead to 3–0. The Lancers sealed the win late when Keegan McMullen scored late at 16:40, with assists from Brady Hinz and Toews. Windsor closed out the final minutes with strong defensive play to secure the 4–0 shutout.

Windsor now has 11 wins on the season and sit third in the OUA West with a game in hand. The Lancers hit the road next weekend with stops at York and Brock. Friday's game on January 23 is set for 7 p.m. in Toronto, Ont. against the Lions. The action can be streamed live on oua.tv.
