The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team put together a dominant road performance on Saturday (Jan. 24) night in Toronto, Ont., blanking the York Lions 5–0 to earn a convincing shutout win. After a scoreless opening frame, Windsor erupted offensively in the second period and never let up, pairing special teams success with disciplined defensive play to control the game from start to finish.

Windsor outshot York 29–15, including a decisive 14–4 advantage in the second period. Goaltender Max Donoso was sharp all night, stopping all 15 shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season and second in as many games. York netminder Alex Chu made 24 saves in the loss. The Lancers power play proved to be the difference, converting on three of eight opportunities, while York finished 0-for-3. Five different Windsor skaters found the back of the net, with Logan Linklater, Owen Jones, Alex Cunningham, and Ray Hamlin all recording assists.
GAME FLOW
The opening period was tight and physical, with both teams held scoreless and Windsor holding a slight edge in shots. The game broke open early in the second period, as the Lancers struck twice in just 17 seconds on the power play. Colton Smith opened the scoring with an unassisted power-play goal, followed quickly by Dylan Schives, finishing a one-timer on a feed from Logan Linklater to make it 2–0.
Windsor kept the pressure on as the period continued. Matt McNamara extended the lead to 3–0 by sneaking a shot from the point through traffic, with Alex Cunningham and Ray Hamlin drawing assists. Late in the frame, Owen Jones capped off the four-goal second period with a power-play goal at 19:20, sending the Lancers into the intermission with a commanding 4–0 advantage.
The Lancers closed out the game with a composed third period. Jacob Boucher added the final touch, scoring a shorthanded goal to seal the 5–0 victory. Despite an increasingly physical finish, Windsor remained locked in defensively to secure the shutout on Saturday night.
