Lancers earn second of two big wins on road trip

The University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball team earned a strong road victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks, winning 86–78 on Saturday (Jan. 17) night at the Athletic Complex in Waterloo, Ont. Windsor set the tone early, jumping out to a double-digit lead in the opening quarter and maintaining control for most of the night to secure the eight-point win.

GAME FLOW
Windsor dictated the pace in the first half, outscoring Laurier 28–20 in the opening quarter and 18–14 in the second to take a 46–34 advantage into halftime. The Golden Hawks responded after the break, slightly outscoring the Lancers in both the third and fourth quarters, but Windsor consistently answered each push to keep Laurier at arm's length and close out the road win.

Shooting efficiency and rebounding proved decisive for the Lancers. Windsor shot 48.5% from the field compared to Laurier's 39.7%, while also holding a 35–30 edge on the glass. Although the Golden Hawks were more effective from the free-throw line (78.6% to Windsor's 51.7%) and from three-point range, Windsor's balanced scoring and interior presence allowed them to maintain control throughout the contest.

STATS
Emanuel Otong and Luke Grace led the way for Windsor, each scoring 20 points. Grace added a team-high eight rebounds, while Otong contributed on both ends with two blocks. Bronson Chambers chipped in 15 points and a team-leading four assists, and Dallas Champagnie Smith provided a strong all-around effort off the bench with eight points and six assists.
