The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team won their second consecutive game of the new year with a 3-1 win over the Brock Badgers on Sunday, January 4 at Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.
GAME FLOW
The first period saw last night's chippy play carry over, as both teams were eager to make their presences felt early. This resulted in two power plays for the Lancers and one for the Badgers, but neither team was able to capitalize.
The two OUA West combatants settled into the game in the rest of the first and second periods, battling to a scoreless tie through forty minutes of play.
Max Donoso and Will Hambley, the two goaltenders, stole the show as they both made multiple stellar saves throughout.
The Lancers broke the scoring open early in the third period as
Colton Smith found
Owen Jones wide open in the slot and Jones made no mistake for his third goal of the season.
The Badgers tied things up midway through the frame, but
Dylan Schives responded with a goal off the rush to put Windsor ahead with five minutes to play.
Keegan McMullen scored his OUA-leading 14th goal of the season on an empty net with seven seconds remaining to give the Lancers their second win in as many days.
