Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Windsor secures playoff spot with shutout over Waterloo

The Lancer women's soccer team completed its regular season Sunday afternoon at Warrior Field, defeating Waterloo 4-0.

With the win, the Lancers have secured a playoff spot and will take on the Brock Badgers this Wednesday in the first round.

STATS
Fourth-year Faculty of Human Kinetics major Olivia Corazza (9) and School of Social Work student Autumn Allen (4) completed the regular season as the team's leading goal scorers, while Izzy Barrette finished her regular season with four wins and four clean sheets.

With today's result, the Lancers have recorded at least one point in six of their last seven contests and points in nine of the last ten versus Waterloo.

GAME FLOW
After defeating the Warriors at home in September, Windsor picked up right where they left off in the 12th minute as third-year nursing midfielder Zoe Penney scored her second goal of the season to put the visitors up 1-0.

Sophomore Autumn Allen tallied her fourth goal of the season in the 41st minute–after receiving a yellow card 136 seconds earlier–to give the Lancers their multi-goal lead and cap off a dominant first half.

Windsor sealed the win and the shutout in the second half with goals from kinesiology majors Michaela Marenchin and Jane Pozzi in the 77th and 85th minutes. Alongside her 59th minute tally against Algoma last weekend, Marenchin has now scored in back-to-back games.

In total, the blue and gold finished the game with 21 shot attempts (13 on goal), four corner kicks, and ten saves from fourth-year goalie Izzy Barrette. Waterloo finished with 11 shot attempts, a corner kick, and a yellow card of their own.
