Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Windsor dominates Waterloo on Halloween

The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team won their first home game of the 2026-27 season Saturday afternoon (Oct. 31), defeating the Waterloo Warriors 77-42.

The blue and gold are now 2-1 through their first three games.

Stats
On top of Faculty of Human Kinetics major Teighan Stoukas adding 16 points of her own, Odette School of Business student Leah Tate continued cementing her case as one of U SPORTS' best shooting guards by converting five of her eight three-point shots (62.5%) in the process of scoring a game-high 21 points.

While Olivia Tomlin led the visitors with a team-high five field goals and 12 points, Mackenzie Marenchin (9), Teighan Stoukas (6), Helena Lasic (6), and Leah Shannon (5) combined for 26 rebounds to complement the group's season-high percentages in three-point shots (46.4%), field goals (48.1%), and free throws (85.7%).

With this afternoon's result, Windsor has won their last four games versus Waterloo, three of which have come on home court.

Game Flow
The blue and gold exploded out of the gate offensively, jumping to a 14-3 lead 8:31 into the game as five different players recorded a basket. They carried their performance into halftime with an 18-point second quarter and a 16-point lead, too.

In the third quarter, the Lancers had their most productive stretch of the season, scoring 28 points. Windsor primarily relied on the three-point shot to do so, generating conversions from Tate (2x), Stoukas, Marenchin, and Maliyah Ogorek.

The visitors saved their best for the final frame, though, generating 14 points while limiting the hosts to 15. Simran Lail led the way here with six points, four of which were via free throws.

Hometown sophomore Abby Cullion completed the win with a buzzer-beating, three-point shot, too.
