Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Sam's 31 points leads Lancers to divisional win

The University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball team delivered a dominant 101–81 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday (Jan. 31) night at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

GAME FLOW
Windsor set the tone early, building a 28–21 lead after the opening quarter and extending the advantage to 45–36 by halftime. The Lancers continued to apply pressure coming out of the break, outscoring Laurier 27–21 in the third to push the lead into double digits, before closing out the contest with a strong 29–24 fourth quarter to secure the convincing home win.

Windsor's efficiency on the offensive end proved decisive, as the Lancers shot an impressive 62.1% from the field compared to Laurier's 41.7%. Windsor also held a 40–26 advantage on the glass and moved the ball effectively throughout the night, recording 15 assists on the 41 made field goals. While Laurier connected on 13 three-pointers, the Lancers consistently answered at the other end, limiting any sustained momentum and controlling the pace of play.

STATS
Yohann Sam led all scorers with a game-high 31 points, knocking down six three-pointers on nine attempts and shooting 11-of-18 from the floor. Emanuel Otong was nearly perfect inside, finishing with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting while adding six rebounds and two blocks. Luke Grace provided steady production in the paint, scoring 14 points on a flawless 6-of-6 shooting night and pulling down eight rebounds. Bronson Chambers added 12 points and a team-high six assists, helping anchor Windsor's balanced attack.

For Laurier, Aidan Whalen paced the Golden Hawks with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while Liban Abdalla added 22 points, including six three-pointers. Despite strong individual efforts, Laurier struggled to slow Windsor's offensive rhythm and could not overcome the Lancers' efficiency and depth.
