The University of Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team mounted a thrilling comeback in front of a raucous home crowd at the Toldo Lancer Centre on Friday (Mar. 13) night, defeating the Montreal Carabins 3–2 in the U SPORTS Men's Volleyball Championship quarterfinals. Windsor, the tournament hosts, rallied from a two-set deficit to advance to the semifiinals, energizing more than 2,000 fans, alumni, and students, with the nation watching online via CBC.
GAME FLOW
Montreal started strong, taking control of the first two sets with scores of 25–23 and 25–23. The Carabins relied on the dynamic duo of Simon Coulet, who tallied 23 points on 20 kills, and Hugo Considere, who added 14 points with 12 kills. Montreal's early attacking efficiency kept Windsor on its heels, with the Carabins hitting .333 in the opening set and .206 in the second.
Windsor struggled to find its rhythm offensively in the first two sets, hitting .385 in the opener but just .080 in the second, while Montreal maintained steady pressure at the net. Despite the slow start, the Lancers remained resilient, refusing to let the quarterfinals slip away in front of their home fans.
With their backs against the wall, the Lancers flipped the momentum in the third set, executing a balanced attack and tightening up defensively to claim the set 25–22. Windsor hit .385 with 12 kills and only two errors, while Gustavo Siqueira led the way with five kills and three block assists in the frame to power the blue and gold to a fourth set.
Building on their energy, Windsor edged Montreal 25–21 in the fourth set, forcing a decisive fifth frame. With every point, the Toldo Lancer Centre crowd came alive. The Lancers fought back with strong blocking from Conaire Taub, Gustavo Siqueira, and Darian Koskie.
The Lancers had control for most of the deciding set, getting out to an early lead and keeping their pressure at the net to finish with a 15–10 victory, with the final kill by Darian Koskie sending the Lancer faithful into a frenzy.
This is the first-ever U SPORTS quarterfinal win by the Lancers, meaning they will play in the semifinals for the first time in program history. Regardless of result on Saturday, they will have the opportunity to play for a medal on Sunday.

Darian Koskie earned player of the game honours with 14 kills on 21 attempts, hitting an efficient .619 and contributing five block assists to anchor Windsor's comeback. Anthony Ivanovski added 10 kills; Conaire Taub chipped in six kills and five errors, and Chase Bridges delivered 10 kills and seven digs, providing key contributions both offensively and defensively. Markus Law-Heese orchestrated the offense with 45 assists, while also contributing a service ace, 14 digs, and two blocks. Noah Koskie anchored the backcourt with 12 digs, helping the Lancers withstand the Carabins early surge.
As a team, Windsor recorded 57 kills on 127 attempts for a .307 hitting percentage, complemented by 55 assists, four service aces, 15 total blocks, and 49 digs. The Lancers' composure under pressure and balanced attacking effort allowed them to overcome a formidable Montreal squad and punch their ticket to the national semifinals in front of a packed Toldo Lancer Centre.
