The University of Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team battled in front of a packed home crowd at the Toldo Lancer Centre on Saturday (Mar. 14) night, falling 3–1 to the Trinity Western Spartans in the U SPORTS Men's Volleyball Championship semifinal. Despite the loss, the Lancers delivered a spirited performance in front of a full house of fans who packed the building to the roof to support the tournament's hosts.

GAME FLOW
Trinity Western came out strong in the opening set, using an efficient offense to claim a 25–21 victory. The Spartans hit an impressive .545 in the first frame with 14 kills on 22 attempts, while Windsor countered with a strong .556 hitting percentage of their own but narrowly fell short as the visitors maintained steady pressure from the service line and at the net. 

The Spartans extended their lead in the second set with a 25–15 win, capitalizing on several Windsor errors while continuing their balanced attack. Trinity Western recorded another 14 kills in the set and held the Lancers to a .037 hitting percentage, giving the visitors firm control of the match heading into the intermission.

Refusing to go quietly in front of their home supporters, Windsor responded with its best push of the night in the third set. The Lancers recorded 13 kills and battled through several long rallies, eventually earning a thrilling 27–25 victory in which they came from behind late in the set to send the Toldo Lancer Centre into a frenzy.

The fourth set remained competitive, with Windsor continuing to push the pace offensively and defensively. The game looked primed for a fifth set, but Trinity Western ultimately closed out the semi-final encounter with a 25–22 set victory to secure their spot in the national title game. 

STATS
For Windsor, setter Markus Law-Heese guided the offense with 35 assists while also contributing eight points, seven digs, and eight total blocks in a strong all-around performance. Gustavo Siqueira led the charge offensively, finishing the match with 13 kills and 16 points while hitting .281. Conaire Taub added nine kills, while Chase Bridges and Darian Koskie each contributed seven kills as Windsor clawed back into the match. The Lancers also received key defensive contributions from Noah Koskie and Bridges, who helped anchor the backcourt with several important digs throughout the match.

Spartans outside hitter Kaden Schmidt led all players with 24 kills and 25.5 points, while Piers de Greeff added 15 kills and six service aces in a standout performance. Setter Anselm Rein orchestrated the offense with 44 assists as Trinity Western finished the match hitting .291 as a team.

As a team, Windsor recorded 41 kills on 107 attempts for a .215 hitting percentage, adding two service aces, 14 total blocks, and 34 digs. While the Lancers ultimately fell short of the national title, the team's resilience and consistent play throughout the season highlighted one of the most successful campaigns in program history.
