The No. 4 seeded University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team begins their 2026 U SPORTS Men's Hockey U CUP Championship with a matchup against the No. 5 Mount Royal Cougars at 1 p.m. Atlantic/12 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, March 19 at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, N.S.
The Lancers clinched their U SPORTS berth two weekends ago when they swept the TMU Bold in two games to advance to the OUA Queen's Cup championship game. The Lancers were unable to come out on top in their 2023 rematch with the UQTR Patriotes, falling in overtime.
Keegan McMullen, named an OUA first-team all-star, tied for the team and OUA lead with 21 goals in the regular season and he has added four more in five playoff games to pace the Lancers in goal scoring. Co-leader
Colton Smith had three goals in the OUA playoffs while being named a U SPORTS all-rookie team member.
Aaron Shaw currently leads the blue and gold in playoff points with six in five games after putting up 31 in 25 games in the regular season.
The Mount Royal Cougars finished first in the Canada West East division and second in the conference with a 20-6-2 (W-L-OT) record. The Cougars defeated the Calgary Dinos in three games in the semifinals before falling to the Saskatchewan Huskies, this tournament's No. 1 seed, in two games in the Canada West finals.
Justin Lies leads the Cougars with five points in five playoff games. In the regular season, Connor Bouchard led the team with 39 points in 27 games while Josh Tarzwell and Lies had 15 goals each. Netminder Shane Farkas has played every game between the pipes in the playoffs, recording a 3.02 goals against average and .854 save percentage.
