The University of Windsor Lancers women's soccer team completed another resilient performance on Sunday (Sept. 20) afternoon at Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton, Ont., tying the McMaster Marauders 0-0.

Izzy Barrette had to be sharp to begin the match, as she was forced to make eight saves within the first 21 minutes. The Marauders brought relentless pressure all afternoon and forced Windsor's back four to stay on their heels.
The Lancers got two scoring chances less than five minutes in but were unable to score. In the latter part of the first half, they thought they scored in both the 27th and 40th minutes thanks to first-year midfielder
Maria Vizirakis, but both goals were ruled offside.
In the second half, Windsor's bend-but-don't-break mentality continued as McMaster tallied three scoring chances within a 15-minute period by the hour mark. Both teams also traded yellow cards in the 67th (Ellena Parekunnel) and 84th (
Zola DeGraw) minutes to reflect the back-and-forth nature of the game, but the clock proved to be the ultimate difference today.

Fourth-year keeper
Izzy Barrette was by far the Lancers best player and the rock the Marauders couldn't overcome all afternoon, posting 11 saves and her third clean sheet of the season.
McMaster's Lucie Duffy only needed two saves to also record her third shutout of the year.
Individually, the maroon and white's attack with nine corners and 16 shots was led by Shalagh Gula with three shots; furthermore, Olivia Blair and Maria Annibale had two each and were a constant thorn in the attacking third. And due to the consistent pressure on the Lancer defense, Windsor's
Ella Vinzenz and Olivia Corraza led the blue and gold with one shot apiece.
The Lancers have picked up their second road draw of the season with today's result and sit at 2-4-2 in the OUA West Division.

Windsor will face their Highway 401 rivals, the Western Mustangs, at Mustangs Field on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. before returning to Alumni Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 4 to take on the Brock Badgers at 1 p.m.
