Paul Ekeocha joins the Lancer community from Vancouver, BC as an assistant coach to head coach, Chris Cheng. He is a NCCP Level 2 certified coach who played high school basketball, track & field and football.

A native Ontarian, he won numerous achievements and awards (specifically in basketball and track & field), was a provincial basketball player for four years in Ontario during that time and was a two-sport varsity athlete (basketball and track & field) during his undergraduate years.

Coach P (as he’s affectionately known as) was on staff under Coach Cheng in 2013 with Team Ontario, with that team representing Ontario at the Canada Summer Games - capturing gold. He returned the following season under Coach Fatih Asker, where the team also captured another gold medal.

In the 2018-19 season, his senior boys basketball team at Kitsilano Secondary School repeated as gold medallists at the AAAA Vancouver City Champions for the third straight season (after an undefeated regular season), moving on to win the AAAA Lower Mainland Championships versus two very two tough powerhouse schools in St. Georges School and Vancouver College; earning the No. 2 seed into the AAAA Provincial Senior Boys Basketball Championships – tying a school record for highest seeding!Â

With many stops along his basketball journey, Coach P has achieved success along the way. Provincially in the OBA with teams such as: Toronto Triple Threat, Toronto Lords, London Orion and Team Ontario and with Basketball BC provincial Regional Teams; leading all those teams to several championships, Top 10 & Top 20 finishes in those respective provinces. He has also coached within Canada Basketball on the girls with the Talent Identification Program (T.I.D.) and recently as of fall 2022, being involved with the boys Canada National Junior Academy Program.Â

Coach P has also coached at the Pro level with the Windsor Express of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) in the winter/spring of 2022 under Coach Bill Jones, as an assistant coach tasked with leading the offense and assisting in player development.

With over 20 years of coaching experience, he brings a very broad, energetic, dynamic and unique coaching style and approach to basketball. During his coaching tenure, Coach Paul has had player's go on to play in the NBA G-League, NCAA (D1, D2, D3 & Ivy League), Junior Colleges in the US, U SPORTS, CCAA and Team Canada (Junior & Senior Men's Teams).
