Windsor Lancers

Shawn Lippert

Shawn Lippert is the Head Coach of the Lancer Men's Volleyball program.

The Windsor native has been with the program since 2008 and spent the 2010-11 season as the Associate Head Coach and lead recruiting coordinator for the Lancers.

Over the course of his three years, he has made a big impact on the program, especially in the areas of recruiting and player development.

Coach Lippert has been instrumental in helping advance the program forward over the past three seasons. He has led the recruiting efforts since 2008, where his first recruits were OUA all-rookie team selections Kyle Williamson and Justin Kuskoff.

With a dynamic group of young players, the Lancers qualified for the playoffs in 2010 for the first time in six years and earned a home play-off game for the first time in a decade.

The Lancers earned a return trip to the playoffs in 2011 and also earned some impressive individual accolades, including Kyle Williamson being named the OUA player of the year and the program’s first ever CIS first team All-Canadian.

No stranger to the local volleyball community, Coach Lippert has been involved in the sport in a variety of capacities over the past 17 years.

He started his coaching career with the Kennedy HS Clippers in 1994 and moved on to coach the bantam division of the Windsor Gamblers in the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) in 1995. The Gamblers were eventually amalgamated with Riverside Athletics four years later and Lippert continued on as a Director with the program.

Coach Lippert continued to gain valuable experience over the course of the next decade as he coached at all levels with the Riverside club volleyball program. In all, he has coached three Provincial championship teams and earned one bronze medal at the national championships.

He was hired in 2009 by the Ontario Volleyball Association to coach in the Athlete Development Program (ADP) for Region 3 which encompasses all of South Western Ontario. With the ADP team, he helped lead them to a gold medal at the Regional Games in 2009 and a silver medal in 2010.

Coach Lippert is very personable and is committed to volleyball at the elite level. His goal for the program at the University of Windsor is to build a consistent level of excellence that will allow the team to compete against the elite programs on a year to year basis within the CIS.
