In her first year on the bench with the Lancer women’s basketball team, Ashley joins the Lancers after spending two years as an assistant at the University of Guelph.
A former player with the Laurentian Voyageurs, Ashley moved right into coaching after a knee injury ended her career. She spent one year in Squamish BC assisting both men and women’s basketball teams 09/10 and was able to work for Vanoc during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
In 2011, she graduated from Ohio University with Masters in Sports Science and Coaching Education. MacSporran spent two years as head coach of Concordia University College in Edmonton Alberta from 2011-2013, before returning back to Ontario to assist at Guelph and pursue coaching in the CIS.
Prior to joining the OUA coaching ranks, she coached Grand River High School in Kitchener for two years and took her first team as a head coach to AAAA OFSSA in 2008. MacSporran spent four years working with the KW Lightning program, sending many athletes to CIS/NCAA programs to finish off their careers.
