Chantal Vallée is the head coach of the University of Windsor Lancers women's basketball program, where she has established one of the most accomplished programs in Canadian university basketball.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Coach Vallée has led the Lancers to five consecutive U SPORTS national championships, capturing national titles in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. During that remarkable championship run, Windsor became a dominant force on the national basketball landscape, highlighted by a 36-1 record during the 2013-14 season and a 33-2 mark in 2014-15.
Since taking over the Lancer program, Vallée has guided Windsor to numerous OUA championships and Final Four appearances while developing student-athletes who have gone on to earn conference, national and professional recognition. Her teams have consistently competed among the top programs in U SPORTS, combining success on the court with an emphasis on academic achievement, personal development and leadership.
Most recently, Vallée guided the Lancers to the OUA West Division title in 2025-26, as Windsor posted a 17-5 regular-season record and advanced to the OUA semifinals. The Lancers defeated Brock 83-77 in the OUA quarterfinals before concluding their season against TMU.
The 2024-25 season also saw Windsor return to the OUA semifinals after finishing the regular season 18-4, earning the top seed in the OUA West and closing the regular season on a 10-game winning streak.
Under Coach Vallée's leadership, the Lancers have produced some of the most accomplished student-athletes in program history, including Miah-Marie Langlois, Jessica Clemencon and Korissa Williams. Recent standouts include Kali Grootenboer, who in 2025-26 ranked among the OUA and U SPORTS leaders in field-goal percentage, scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.
Vallée's coaching accomplishments have been recognized with numerous individual honours. She is a two-time U SPORTS Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, earning the award in 2013-14 and 2014-15. She has also been named OUA Fox 40 Overall Female Coach of the Year four times and OUA West Women's Basketball Coach of the Year on multiple occasions. At the University of Windsor, she has received the Gino Fracas Coach of the Year Award five times.
Beyond basketball, Vallée has been recognized for her leadership and contributions to women in sport and the broader community. In 2012, she received the prestigious Athena Award, recognizing her professional accomplishments, community contributions and mentorship of future women leaders. In 2013, she was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. She was also recognized by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women, Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) as one of Canada's Most Influential Women in Sport.
Vallée has also contributed to basketball at the national and international levels. She has worked with Basketball Canada and has served as an assistant coach with the Canadian Junior National Team. In 2012 and 2016, she expanded her profile beyond the sidelines as a basketball analyst with CTV Sports, including coverage surrounding Canada's participation at the Olympic Summer Games.
Prior to joining Windsor, Vallée served as head coach of the Vanier College women's basketball program for three seasons. She transformed the program into a national contender, leading Vanier from a team that had missed the postseason to a squad ranked as high as No. 5 nationally in 2005. Before Vanier, she spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the McGill University women's basketball program and one season as an assistant coach at the University of British Columbia. She also served as head coach of the Quebec Provincial team that captured a bronze medal at the 2002 National Championships in New Brunswick.
A certified Level 5 NCCP coach, Coach Vallée holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a Master's degree in Physical Education, specializing in Coaching and Sport Psychology, from McGill University.
