A Blenheim, Ontario native and accomplished hockey professional, Todd Warriner brings more than three decades of high-level playing, coaching and leadership experience to the Windsor Lancers women's hockey program.
A first-round selection of the Quebec Nordiques in the 1992 NHL Draft, Warriner went on to enjoy an outstanding 14-year professional playing career. He appeared in more than 500 NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers, gaining extensive experience at the highest level of the sport.
Warriner's professional career also included time in the American Hockey League and overseas, providing him with a broad understanding of the game and the different environments in which athletes develop and compete. His playing career was highlighted not only by his NHL accomplishments, but also by the opportunity to represent Canada on the international stage.
In 1994, Warriner represented Team Canada at the Lillehammer Winter Olympic Games, competing at one of the world's premier international sporting events. He continued his international career with the Canadian national team and was a member of Canada's championship-winning squad at the 2005 Deutschland Cup.
Following his playing career, Warriner transitioned into coaching, bringing the same passion, competitiveness and commitment to player development to his work behind the bench. Most recently, he served as a head coach in Germany's Oberliga and DEL2 leagues from 2023 through 2026. His tenure with the Tilburg Trappers was particularly successful, as he was named Oberliga Coach of the Year in 2025 after guiding the club to an impressive 32-9-3 (W-L-OTL) record.
Coach Warriner is also very familiar with the University of Windsor and the Lancers hockey program. Prior to taking on his current role with the women's team, he served on the Lancers men's hockey coaching staff, where he played an important role in player development.Â
A respected member of the local hockey community, Warriner's connection to Windsor runs deep. His extensive professional playing background, international experience, coaching success and familiarity with the Lancers program provide a unique foundation as he takes on the role of interim head coach of the women's hockey program.
Warriner is committed to building a positive, competitive and development-focused environment for Lancers student-athletes, drawing upon his experiences at the NHL, international and European levels to help prepare the Lancer Women's Hockey team for success both on the ice and in their academic pursuits.
