The Lancer Women's Hockey team split a pair of home games this weekend as they continue their six game homestead to open the 2009-10 season.

On Saturday, Windsor opened up the weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Waterloo Warriors at South Windsor Arena.

The Warriors jumped on the board almost immediately in the first period as they scored on Lancer goaltender Jamie Tessier with their first shot on net just 15 seconds into the game.

The Lancers did not let the quick set back faze them as they held the Warriors off the board from the remainder of the frame.

Windsor tied the game halfway through the second period with their first of three unanswered goals. Jackie Leavoy netted her first of the season off a pass from rookie Stephanie Hebert past Warrior goaltender Kahla Stern.

With the game tied at one heading into the third, Windsor stepped it up a notch to ensure the win.

Hebert scored her second goal of the season on a Lancer two-man advantage, less than a minute into the third period. Kelly Calhoun capitalized on another Lancer power play just ten seconds later to score her first of the year and secure the Lancers second straight win.

Tessier made 30 saves in net for Windsor.

On Sunday, the Lancers hosted the Laurier Golden Hawks who were hot coming off of a  8-0 win over the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first period, Laurier scored first on a power play to take a 1-0 lead. The Lancers tied the game at one just six minutes later. Cagla Baktiroglu took a pass from Julie Hamilton and Lindsay Hoogstraten on a Lancer power play 15 minutes into the frame.

The game remained tied until the fourteen minute mark of the third period when Laurier added two goals a minute and a half apart to take the game.

Tessier played her best game of the season making 43 saves, while the Lancers went 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Windsor will next host the York Lions next Saturday October 24th in the showcase game of Windsor's Hocktoberfest. Catch the Lancers and Lions at 4:10pm on the main bowl of the new WFCU Centre.
