The Windsor Lancer women's hockey team earned their first shutout of the season Thursday night on the road, defeating the TMU Bold 5-0.
Â
The blue and gold are 4-3-0 to start 2026-27.
Â
STATS
With 21 saves, nine of which came in the opening period, sophomore psychology major
Rebecca Noble posted her third career OUA shutout and first since February 13 vs Nipissing; Sydney Pyburn (12-for-15) and Izzy Lane (15-for-17), in contrast, split the goaltending duties for the hosts.
Â
Offensively,
Freya Flook's first multi-goal showing at the U SPORTS level catapults her to first in rookie scoring on the team with two goals and three assists in seven games. The group had four players record at least two points Thursday night, too.
Â
Finally, but most importantly, the Lancers have now won five straight games at Mattamy Athletic Centre and six of their last nine versus the Bold.
Â
GAME FLOW
While TMU had three power plays and out-shot the Lancers by five in the initial frame, first-year Faculty of Human Kinetics forward
Freya Flook opened the scoring for the visitors at 16:01 with her first OUA goal and fourth point of the year, intercepting a puck on her own blue line from Nahvin Bal and sniping a short-handed chance five-hole past Pyburn. It's only the second time this season that the Bold have allowed a goal with the 5-on-4 advantage.
Â
Windsor continued its scoring surge 32 seconds into the middle frame as kinesiology sophomore
Lerissa Stevenson scored their second goal of the night through a rebound she helped create. From the second period on, the visitors owned the shot count 28-11.
Â
After
Bryn Rutledge hit the post on a 2-on-1 break with 4:06 left to play in the second period, second-year forward
Amber Esterbrooks added her fifth goal of the season 65 seconds later as Flook sent a cross-ice pass to her as she was flying into the offensive zone, ultimately roofing the puck glove side and causing a goalie change after just 15 shots.
Â
To wrap up the contest,
Lerissa Stevenson scored her second of the night on the power play at 4:59 into the third period, and
Emily Eikelboom sealed the win with her team-leading sixth goal of the year. As two of the club's best offensive performers, Eikelboom and Stevenson each recorded three points in helping snap a two-game losing streak. Overall, it was simply the ideal game for new interim head coach
Todd Warriner and his coaching staff, especially once the second period began.
