The Lancer Football team was defeated 24-9 by the Ottawa Gee Gees on the road on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale.

With the loss, the Lancers finished the season with a 2-6 record and out of the playoffs.

On Saturday, the Lancers got on the board first in Ottawa as kick Joe Colella connected on a 39 yard field goal to put Windsor ahead 3-0 at the end of one quarter.

The Gee Gees would respond in the second with a pair of touchdown runs from Ross Wilson and quarterback Brad Sinopoli to take a 14-3 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Lancers would cut the lead to 14-6 on another Joe Colella field goal, this time from 23 yards out.

However Ottawa would respond again later in the quarter on Brad Sinopoli's second touchdown run of the game, this one from 29 yards out to give the home team a 21-6 lead.

Another Joe Colella 34 yard field goal would cut the lead to 21-9 early in the fourth quarter, but it would not be enought as the Gee Gees held on for the 24-9 victory.

For Windsor, Greg Orsini completed 6 of 19 passes for 51 yards and 2 interceptions. Paul Lefaive carried the ball 16 times for 75 yards while Cory Fernandes caught 2 passes for 28 yards.

For Ottawa, Brad Sinopoli completed 12 of 26 passes for 188 yards and also ran the ball 8 times for 105 yards. Receiver Stephen Hughes caught 5 passes for 121 yards.

The Lancers finish the 2009 season in 8th place in the OUA and miss out on the playoffs.
