Lancers fall to Varsity Blues in 2009 home opener at the St. Denis Centre

Windsor, ON - The Windsor Lancers Women's Volleyball team was defeated by the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday night in their 2009 OUA home opener at the St. Denis Centre.

Despite a hard fought effort from a trio of first year players, the Lancers fell to the Varsity Blues in straight sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-18.

Rookie Michelle Pierce led the team with 9 kills, 1 digs and 11 points. Fellow rookie Mackenzie Coyle added 7 kills, 2 digs and 9 points. Veteran Jillian Fantuz finished the night with 23 assists.

Kaila Seguin, another Lancer newcomer also had a good debut with 4 kills, 6 digs and 4 points. Coyle was named Windsor's player of the game.

The Lancers will be back in action next weekend as they host the McMaster Marauders on Friday night at 6pm at the St. Denis Centre.
