Lancer Football heads on the road to Waterloo to take on Warriors

The Lancer Football team will look to get back into the win column this weekend as they head up the 401 this weekend to battle the University of Waterloo Warriors.

Coach Morencie's squad will look to rebound from a tough loss a week ago to the #2 ranked Western Mustangs.

On the injury front, the Lancers received some good news on Thursday as quarterback Sam Malian will return to action on Saturday in Waterloo.

Malian, who had 134 yards and a touchdown in week one against the York Lions is expected to provide a major spark to a Lancer offence that was held to just seven points against the Mustangs.

The Lancers will also need another strong outing in the back field this week against the 0-3 Warriors. Led by Paul Lefaive who is currently sitting with 176 yards which ranks him ninth in the OUA, the Lancers will be looking to effectively move the ball on the ground against a Warrior defense that has struggled through the first three weeks of the season.

For Windsor, their defence will also have to bounce back in order to keep Waterloo quarterback Luke Balch at bay. Balch has racked up 377 yards after three weeks, 218 of which have been to his primary down field threat Sean Cowie.

After this weekend's game, the Lancers will return home for Windsor Minor Football Day on October 3rd against the #5 ranked Queen's Gaels. Kick-off is set for 1pm. All minor football players wearing their team's jersey will get into the game for free.
